How far in advance can guests book via the aleno widget?
In this article, you’ll learn how far in advance guests can book online, where to adjust the booking window, and how this setting affects your widget, backend, and Reserve with Google.
In aleno, you can define how many days in advance guests can make an online reservation.
This setting controls the booking window only for the widget — not for your internal backend.
Where to find the setting
Settings → Widget → Customizing → Days ahead reservation limit

Enter the maximum number of days for which online reservations should be accepted.
Your team can still enter reservations for any future date in the backend without limitation.
Important:
If you promote special events or menus, make sure the event date lies within this booking window.
This setting applies globally and cannot be customised per shift.
FAQ
1. Does this limit apply to phone or walk-in reservations?
No. It only applies to online reservations through the widget.
Staff can always enter future reservations without restrictions in the backend.
2. What happens when the booking window is reached?
Guests simply won’t be able to select dates beyond the limit — those dates appear blocked in the widget calendar.
4. Can different days or shifts have different booking windows?
No. The setting is global for all shifts, rooms, menus, and events.
5. What if I temporarily want to open bookings further in advance?
You can adjust the number of days at any time.
Changes take effect immediately and won’t affect existing reservations.
6. Do current reservations get affected when I change the limit?
No. The limit only controls future online availability.
All existing reservations remain untouched.
7. Can guests bypass this limit by editing an existing reservation?
No. The self-edit flow does not allow guests to move a reservation to a date outside the allowed booking window.
9. Does this setting affect Reserve with Google?
Partially.
Reserve with Google supports bookings up to 90 days in advance, but never beyond the limit you set in aleno.
If your widget setting is lower (e.g., 30 days), RWG will also stop at 30 days.
If your widget allows more (e.g., 120 days), RWG still caps it at 90 days.
10. What booking window do most restaurants use?
Typical values:
-
30 days for casual dining
-
60–90 days for fine dining
-
120+ days for Michelin or seasonal restaurants
A longer window often reduces early phone enquiries for special dates like Christmas, New Year’s Eve, or Valentine’s Day.
Important note
Don’t mix up the “Days ahead reservation limit” with the shift setting for deadlines.
-
Days ahead reservation limit = how far into the future guests can book online.
-
Deadline settings for your shifts = until when guests can book, change, or cancel a reservation for a specific shift (e.g. up to 2 hours before service).
