alenoPay No-Show Feature: Country Code Settings

In this article you’ll learn how to use manage the credit card request for a the no show feature by country codes.

What does this feature do?

This function lets you define for which country codes (international dialing codes) no credit card is requested.
A typical example: Your restaurant wants to keep the booking flow simple for local guests but add extra protection against no-shows for international guests.

Benefit: Local and returning guests enjoy a smoother booking experience, while you stay protected when hosting international guests.

How to activate the setting

  1. Go to Settings > alenoPay > General.

  2. Under “Do not request credit card for selected country codes” choose the country codes from the dropdown.screenshot of aleno backend settings

Example: Select your own country’s dialing code (e.g. +49 for Germany) so that local guests don’t need to enter a card.

You can select multiple country codes — as many as you need.

How it interacts with other payment settings

The country code is just one condition. It works together with:

  • Guest profile checkbox “Credit card required”

  • Shift setting “Do not request credit card in the widget for guests with ‘credit card not required’”

  • Shift setting “Minimum PAX for credit card request”

For new guests (no existing guest profile) in online reservations:

  • The credit card request screen is shown if:

    1. The country is not excluded

    2. AND the minimum PAX is met (or not set)

  • If either condition is not met → no credit card requested

  • The guest profile setting “credit card not required” does not apply here.

For returning guests (with existing guest profile) in online reservations:

  • Country excluded:
No credit card requested (this overrides other guest profile or shift settings).

  • Country not excluded:

    • If guest profile checkbox “Credit card required” is activecredit card requested.

    • If guest profile checkbox “Credit card required” is inactive:

      • Shift setting active (“Do not request credit card in the widget for guests with ‘credit card not required’”) → no credit card requested.

      • Shift setting inactivecredit card requested, if minimum PAX is met.

Important note

The setting “Do not request credit card for selected country codes” currently only applies to online reservations via the widget.
For backend reservations, you need to manually change the status from “Credit card requested” to “Confirmed” to avoid sending guests a credit card request email.

Quick summary

  • Exclude country code = guests with this code don’t need to provide a credit card

  • New guests = only country code + PAX matter

  • Returning guests = guest profile settings + shift settings also apply → allows you to individually exempt certain guests from the credit card request even if their country code normally requires it
