Automatic table assignment - customer tags and shift capacity

In this article, we will show you how to prioritize certain tables for specific types of guests. For example, a VIP should, if possible, get the table next to the window, removing the need to reassign reservations manually.

Configure customer tags for automatic table assignment

Below are steps to configure automatic table assignments based on customer tags and shift capacity. (Find more information, a set-up guide, and tips on automatic table assignment here).

The configuration can be done on a restaurant level or a shift level.

  1. Access automatic table assignment settings. Here, you can configure customer tags for Reservation priority, Table priorities, and Table combinations & capacities
  2. Configure Reservation priority
    1. Disable default priorities (if necessary) by toggling the adjacent on/ off button.

    2. Add customer tag priority - click on the create new button and pick customer tags

    3. Select customer tag mode, search and select a suggested customer tag(s)
      1. Customer tags mode can be all or any. all means that the customer has to have every tag from this configuration to be prioritized; any - at least one of the tags.

  3. Configure Table priorities
    1. Click on the create new button

    2. Type the name of the table, add desired condition e.g by customer tag, shift capacity or both.

      1. Search and select desired customer tag

      2. Customer tags mode can be all or any. all means that the customer has to have every tag from this configuration to prioritize such a table; any - at least one of the tags. It is optional as long as tags are not added.

      3. Add shift capacity - allows restaurants to limit table priorities based on shift capacity. For example, table 2 prioritised only when shift capacity is at 80 or more guests.

  4. Configure Table combinations & capacities
    1. Click on the create new button.

    2. Type name of the table, add guest capacity range. For example, configure a 4 and 5PAX tables for 6-9 guests.

    3. Add desired condition e.g by customer tag, shift capacity or time ranges or all combined.

      2. Customer tags mode can be all or any. all means that the customer has to have every tag from this configuration to have such a table assigned; any - at least one of the tags. It is optional as long as tags are not added.

      3. Add shift capacity - allows restaurants to limit table combinations based on capacity. For example, combine tables 2 and 4 for 6 guests only when shift capacity is at 80 or more guests.

      4. Add time range - limits table combinations based on the specified time. For example, time range 10:00-12:00 means that the set table combinations would be assignable between 10:00 and 12:00.

  5. Click save button on the top right

Using customer tag priorities

After configuring the automatic table assignment priorities based on customer tags, you can now reserve your prime spots or tables for those who matter most and our system will take care of the details, showing you clear suggestions on where to seat your guests.
